Update on things

There are several things I wanted to update so I’m just going to do it all in one post:

Not too long ago I wrote about “Goldbloom getting her groove thingy back” I had said I was going to start pursuing new things and generally “get a life”!  Update: I have started entering art contests again and recently entered 2; 1) under the sea, & 2) Macro photos. Well the results of the “under the sea” contest are in and I finished 42/80…I really thought I would do better, but there was some awesome artwork entered in that contest. Although, I was disgruntled over some of the ones who placed better than me…bastards! 😛

I also signed on with a temp service and was hired for a job last week. My God ….My God! That’s all I have to say on that subject. (That’s a whole post right there)

My oldest daughter is back for now. Some of you may remember her being thrown out/leaving this summer. She apparently was kicked out of the place where she was living and now we must decide what we’re going to do. I wont see her on the streets, but we can’t keep her here very long because of the problems we have with her behavior, and it’s influence on our young children. Not to mention it causes more stress on Jose and I. She’s still refusing to go to college or join the air force which sucks, because the direction she’s heading in is pure hell.

We have fleas!…grrr I hate fleas, and now I have to go through the whole bombing, treating the yard, giving hollywood a flea bath, washing everything….My Gawd I’m tired just thinking about it. How did this happen? We always treat our yard twice a year (spring-fall) and keep hollywood treated. I think it must have been when MrJose let the neighbors cat sleep in our bed a couple of times. Damn you cat!

Well that about sums up what’s been going on at the Goldbloom house recently, and now this little piggy must go to market and buy some freakin bug spray. CIAO!

  1. I feel sorry for your daughter…and you. It is a problem when the children goes the drain and you can’t do anything. I don’t know how old she is, but does it help to have a talk with her? Make her see the way she’s going. Make it clear for her that you are willing to help if she wants to turn the path, but it is a limit too, if she doesn’t want.
The life is hard…. but the one way is harder than the other.
    Hugs. . .

  2. Thanks Kirsten! She’s 18 and thinks she has all the answers. We’ve tried everything with this child, we’ve been to counseling, tried getting her in sports (or any activity), talked till we’re blue in the face, offered rewards for good behavior, gave punishment for bad behavior, but she just wants to be some gangster thugs woman and she will not listen to reason. I wont go into all the problems she’s caused for us over the last 4 years it just makes me angry all over again. The sad thing is, the very people I would point out as an example of how she’ll end up if she doesn’t change, are her friends! I have a feeling she has a very rough, and possibly short life ahead of her.

  3. Oh man, I feel so bad for you. I have an 18 yr old daughter also, and it is touch and go some days. She is doing well now, but we had a spell there for awhile where I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. It’s so incredibly hard to get across to them the very concept that the people they consider “friends” can drag you down with them. She reads my blog so I don’t write about this stuff on it.

I have no doubt you and Jose must have been doing everything you can to keep her out of trouble, it’s just that when they get into this mindset that their way is the ONLY way that works, then you’re up against a whole teenaged culture at that point. It’s hard to get them to see straight!

You’re right about it affecting the younger kids too. I was one of those younger kids in the late 60’s and 70’s when my older brothers were messed up, and it definitely has an effect on the whole family.
I hope she comes around, and soon. Good luck, I seriously wish you all the best possible outcome.

  4. I feel your pain and sympathize completely. I hope she does some growing up and comes to her senses. You are doing the right thing by protecting your family from negativity. Too many ignore bad behavior and pretend it doesn’t exist or have an impact on the small children.

    Best regards,

  5. Hang in there Mrs G. I hope things get better real soon. Tallman’s 18 yo is currently floundering too. Sometimes you just feel so helpless and frustrated…

  6. Thanks everyone for your help, and concern…You guys are great!

  7. Goldbloom…I was the bad kid in our family. When I say bad, I mean bad. I put my parents through a living hell. Now, I’m their favorite! I guess it’s because they have so much invested in me.

  8. I sure hope things go well for you and your family. Take care!

Ms. JBG, we’ve had our probs with kids as well. Both psychological, drugwise, lawwise, all that. At some point, there is only so much you can do. You can’t wreck yourself. You can only do what you can do. I know, easier said. Boy, do I know that. Just know there are others going through shit like this so you can vent whenever.

Your ranking on the contest is actually good. I remember entering one of my first watercolor thingies and just being devastated because I thought they’d eviscerated me. When, actually, all they did was give me an actual critique to help and it wasn’t that bad.
However, it sucks when you don’t win. Hah! Keep doing your art. I’m going to do some doodles. Seriously. And maybe reenter the art league shit.

  10. Goldbloom, everything I said on the phone still stands. Just say the word…seriously. Hang in there and don’t let things get you down.

  11. I am pulling for you and Jose, MRS JGB with this daughter situation,…that must be so hard. You are a great person and deserve all the happiness in the world. I will send you some positive vibes and will continue to keep you in my thoughts.

  12. Thanks for the positive vibes Michelle, I need all I can get!
